Film Studies Blog Post 10 : Final Casting and Characters

 Final Casting and Characters

For my Short Film, I'll be using between three to four main actors to play the Protagonists of my Story. Whilst also extras, in particular scenes (classrooms) to further heighten, create and bring to life the naturalistic, original tone.

Actor Profile

Name: Jack Vincent

Age: 17

Character Playing: Ollie Clarke

The character Ollie Clarke, played by Jack Vincent is an ordinary 17 year old, college student, who experiences a para-normal, exception event. Ollie is cursed with a Time Loop spell, forcing him to relive the same day over and over again. With the people around him (friends and family) forgetting and refusing to believe him. With him meeting a councillor to talk about his experience, only for the day to be enetabley reset. As the people around him still see him as the 17 year old he once was. However for him, he's aged and is in fact now, a 50 year old adult man.

Name: Elliot Carolan

Age: 18

Character Playing: Will Rodgers

The Protagnitist, Will Rodger is the friend of Ollie Clarke, whos experiences the unforeseen Time Loop. His main scenes involve him during there conversation to and from school and whilst they walk through the corridors together. With him not believing or coming to terms with his friends accusations. With them often arguing and proving to each other who's right.

Name: Alex Moore

Age: 17

Character Playing: Pedestrian

This person is accidentally bumped into by Will Rodgers and Ollie Clarke during their walk to school. With this event acting as reminder and recognition moment that Ollie has lived and seen this moment before. As by day 3, Ollie notices and anticipates that he'll bump into the person. With him using this as eventual proof that he's reliving the same day.

Name:

Age: 55

Character Playing: Older Ollie Clarke

Through a quick cut and the camera gradually pan from the perspective of Ollie towards to the councillor we see that on day 21'681 thats he' aged and grown and is now in fact in his mid 50s. However through everyone else's eyes he's still a 17 year old teenager. With this surprising, leaving the audience surprised and intrigue in what's left to follow for the character.

Name:

Age:

Character Playing: Councillor

Scenes that involve the councillor allow the main protagonists Ollie Clarke to let off steam and express how he's feeling and show the stress and emotions surrounding and affecting him. With the second scene on day 21'681 acting and giving us visual proof of the effects of the time loop on ollie. With him being shown in his mid 50's, however through the eyes of the councilor and the people around him we see him still as 17.

After talking and consider a number of actors for the roles above, I feel the people listed above will provide and give convincing performances and help bring the roles to life. As I plan to allow and give the actors the freedom and ability to explore there characters further, far from the script that i've written.
